Course Description
This course covers the basics of electricity, electronics, ignition systems, starting systems, charging systems, brakes, steering and suspension systems, and wheels and tires.
Justification
This course is required for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certification. It is approved by the program advisory committee. It is a core course for the Automotive Technology AAS degree, TE certificate, and certificates of proficiency.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to differentiate between series and parallel circuits.
- Students will recognize the components of and be able to service the ignition system.
- Students will be able to test a charging system.
- Students will be able to test a starting system.
- Students will be able to mount and balance a tire.
- Students will maintain a reasonably clean work environment.
