This applied course introduces students pursuing the Behavioral Health Technician Certification or other social science majors to varying processes of data collection, evaluation, and assessment in a wide array of behavioral health fields ranging from clinical environments, to conducting and interpreting research, to program evaluation, and more. This course is cross-listed as PSY 2850.
This course gives students early exposure to some of the more challenging facets of behavioral health fields. It will make students more likely to succeed in future courses and help them become more capable consumers and creators of data. This course is also required as a core course for the Behavioral Health Technician Certification.
This course will have content such as, but not limited to:
- Structured clinical interviewing documentation
- Intake assessments and interpretation
- Basics of psychometrics
- Psychometric interpretation
- Treatment plan outcome tracking & monitoring
- Data collection and use
- Program evaluation
- Data informed decision making in organizations
- Performing risk screenings
- Presenting data & findings, evaluations (written, short-form, public, spoken)
