Drawing the Portrait from Life

In this 5-day intensive workshop, artists will learn fundamental techniques to capturing a likeness while drawing from a live model. Days 1 & 2 artists will emphasize a linear block-in that focuses on both the visual impression as well as the underlying structure of the skull. Day 3 through 5 artists will take their drawing to a finish with three-dimensional modeling of form, analysis of light direction, and white chalk for specular highlights. With the aid of one-on-one critiques and instructor demonstrations, participants will learn how to create a naturalistic and volumetric portrait in 5 sessions.

Studio Fee: $75
