This semester exchange program lets Snow College students study at one of Southern Utah University’s partner institutions for a term or full year. Students take a full load of classes and pay tuition to SUU. You’ll participate alongside students from SUU who are enrolled in the same program as you, so you'll always have a friend to explore with!

Adding a study abroad experience to your academic journey and resume will improve your employability and help you stand out in the interview process.

Academic Programs and Destinations

Looking across all of Snow College’s semester abroad options, students can choose from multiple programs over 40 countries. Some popular countries such as Costa Rica or Italy have many programs to choose from, whereas other countries are only available via one provider (such as Thailand with Asia Exchange or Argentina with Arcos).

SUU has programs in many countries which are not offered by other providers, so if you are interested in any of these destinations, then you must go abroad via SUU: Brazil, Chile, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, and Turkey.

There are many study abroad options for students with a variety of majors. Please check the SUU program list to match your subject and/or desired location of study. Note that programs may change from one semester to the next, so it's best to check the website of your intended host instituion for current course information. Our Center for Global Engagement is also happy to help you pinpoint the best program for you.

Earning credits through study abroad

Students studying abroad through SUU can earn 12-15 credits. All exchange students are required to take a minimum of 12 credits at their host university. These credits are transferred back through a learning agreement filled out prior to departure.

Once the learning agreement has been signed, students can work with professors and department chairs to find equivalent courses to those in the chosen study abroad program. This ensures that the transcript at the exchange university will transfer over directly.

Important! Students must pass all coursework and complete a reflection project upon returning to the USA.

Tuition and Funding

For your convenience, tuition payments for these study abroad programs can be made to Southern Utah University.

In order to take part in SUU exchange programs, Snow students are required to transfer to SUU for the semester as non-degree seeking students. You will then pay SUU tuition for the duration of your study abroad program.

Note, as a non-degree seeking SUU guest student, you will not qualify for scholarships or aid offered by SUU. However, you may be able to use other financial aid or apply for other scholarships or grants.

Talk to your advisor to learn what your options are, as well as if you are able to apply your FAFSA funding for studying abroad.

Budgeting for study abroad

The optimal budget for each study abroad program will vary based on factors such as program choice, destination, foreign transaction fees and currency conversions. SUU recommends utilizing this tool, which allows students to input their study abroad destination and receive a detailed cost of living estimate that features average market prices, transportation costs, and more.
