New Associate of Fine Arts Degree

Snow will now offer an Associate of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Visual Studies

Ephraim, UT – The Utah State Board of Regents has officially approved Snow College’s newest degree. Beginning Fall Semester 2017, students will have the opportunity to earn a specialized art degree. The Associate of Fine Arts, Visual Studies (AFA), is a unique degree that is not offered anywhere else in the state of Utah.

Students seeking the AFA degree will be required to take three years of coursework at Snow. This additional time will give the students the opportunity to not only get a quality, in-depth study of the visual arts, which will build the students portfolio, but will provide the students with a quality general and multi-disciplinary educational experience as well.

Snow College is uniquely positioned to offer the students practical, hands-on learning due to its location in Sanpete County, Utah. Sanpete County boasts more internationally acclaimed professional artists per capita than any other county in the state. These artists provide a rich pool from which to draw for special guest lecturers, adjunct teachers, and in-field experience.

Students, in collaboration with faculty, will design a curricular emphasis specific to their professional career goals. The entrepreneurial and professional practices component of this degree prepares students for success at every level. Students completing this competitive and demanding AFA program will leave Snow College with a keenly developed sensibility and skill set. They will also be prepared to engage with an evolving creative industry.
