Mafatini Big Love Scholarship

Ephraim, UT – On October 3, Mafatini Mafatini, a freshman Snow College football player from Maui, Hawaii, passed away from injuries sustained in a one-car accident. To memorialize Mafatini’s legacy, anonymous donors have established the “Mafatini Big Love Scholarship.” 

The scholarship description says, “Mafatini’s influence was felt by many. His love, his sincere kindness, his big heart, his desire to help and lift those around them, and his intent to do good in our world will be remembered.” The scholarship fund will be used by future Snow College athletes who “bring light into the lives of others as Mafatini so beautifully did,” the description continues.
Snow College Athletic Director Rob Nielson commented: "We thank the generous donors and look forward to seeing the impact this gift will have on many young athletes. Through this tragedy, we have seen people’s goodness. Our students opened their hearts and wallets as they passed around a helmet to fundraise for the family during the game, several businesses donated services for the funeral, and the establishment of this scholarship is significant. We are fortunate to be a part of this community.”
