Course Description
This course allows students to participate in chamber ensemble groups for woodwind players. It is available to both music and non-music majors. This ensemble will provide students with an opportunity to develop technical skill, sight-reading ability, and knowledge of the repertory related to the ensemble. It further allows students to synthesize musical, historical and cultural knowledge into meaningful artistic expression. Repeatable for credit.
Justification
Music majors at NASM accredited institutions are required to participate in a variety of ensembles, including chamber music ensembles.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate an ability to accurately perform standard woodwind chamber music repertoire.
- Students will demonstrate an improved ability to play with accurate intonation.
- Students will demonstrate an ability to perform selected literature with musicality consistent with historical practice.
Course Content
Students will learn standard chamber ensemble literature and will perform in at least one concert or recital each semester.
Student ensembles will be mentored and coached by a faculty instructor
