Course Description
This course involves preparation for and participation in Pep Band ensemble performances supporting Snow College athletic events. This course is repeatable for credit.
Justification
Students in this ensemble help provide the Snow College student body with a collegiate experience by contributing to the celebratory atmosphere of college athletic events. Most institutions in Utah offer students a pep band experience. This group serves all students who wish to play, regardless of technical facility. Snow College ensemble credit is required for music majors during each semester of enrollment.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Upon successful completion of each semester of this course, students will be able to accurately perform the rhythms, melodies and harmonies of the music selected by the director
- Upon successful completion of each semester of this course, students will be able to perform essential skills as part of a section, including, proper intonation blend and balance and show improvement in both speed and accuracy of literature learning as measured by small group assessment.
- Upon successful completion of each semester of this course, students will be able to articulate understanding of the selected music in its historical setting as well as the stylistic, expressive, and formal qualities associated with the particular era of music history.
- Upon successful completion of each semester of this course, students will be able to integrate technical and interpretive skiills successfully in performances for audiences.
