Snow College uses ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning (ALEKS PPL) to determine
readiness for mathematics courses. ALEKS PPL gives students the opportunity to review
math skills and then place each student into the math course where they will have
the greatest chance for success. ALEKS PPL is a web-based program that uses artificial
intelligence to map a student’s strengths and weaknesses
ALEKS PPL consists of three parts:
- An Initial Placement Assessment - this will give you an idea of where you place and what skills you can work on to
improve that placement
- 1-year access to the Prep and Learning Module - this is an individualized, self-paced online review
- Access to up to four additional Proctored Placement Exams - this gives you the opportunity to retake the exam to improve placement
Testing Deadlines
- The last day to take the ALEKS PPL Exam for placement into classes for a given semester
will be the first Friday of the semester (if the semester begins on a Monday) or the
second Friday of the semester (if the semester begins on a Wednesday). After that
date, there will be no ALEKS PPL testing allowed.
- We will open placement testing for Spring semester on October 1.
- We will open placement testing for Summer and Fall semesters on February 1.
