Sewing: A Creative Journey - Beginner AND Advanced Beginner

Class Description:

Beginner:

In this class you will learn the basics of sewing, beginning with hand stitching and the care and maintenance of your sewing machine. You will learn the parts and functions of the machine as well. We will make an apron, a tote bag, pajama pants and a simple skirt or shorts. You will walk away knowing that you have been able to make these items with your own hands. This course introduces you to the possibilities of sewing and is the first in a series of classes to learn advanced skills. The first week of class supplies will be provided, and we will make a sample of different hand sewing instructions. For everything else you will be given a supply list on the first day of class. You need to provide your own machine.

Advanced Beginner:

In this class you will learn the more skills that build on a beginner level. You will learn facings, darts, sleeves and more as we make a nice blouse, elastic waist pants, and an elastic waist skirt. If you have amde a pollowcase and pajama pants, you will do well in this class. Students will need to have a sewing machine and a general idea of how to use it. The first class, students will need to have 1.5-2.5 yards woven fabric such as linen, linen blend, or twill fabric. Kathy does have a variety of fabrics you can choose from.
